Our own journey: from the Tatras to Poznań

True story, July 2026: our own route didn't link Kraków to Poznań, but our accommodation in the Tatras (the village of Ciche) to Poznań, as we headed back north towards the Baltic coast. That journey covered around 550 km, just over 6 hours on the road.

The speed limit on Polish motorways is 140 km/h, but in most cases there are only two lanes, and the right-hand lane can be occupied by lorries for several kilometres at a stretch. Petrol prices (unleaded 95) stayed lower than back home throughout the road trip.
