Getting from Kraków to Wrocław: Train, Bus or Car
By Jérôme R · Visited in July 2026 · Updated · How we work
Kraków and Wrocław are about 275 km apart. Several options are available for the journey; we personally covered this distance by car, on the leg back towards Kraków, during our road trip across Poland. Once there, head to our highlights in Wrocław.
Your options for the journey
By car. Allow around 3 to 3 hr 15 min on the road for the 275 km between Kraków and Wrocław, on largely fast roads.
By train. The fastest option overall, with a direct journey of around 2 hr 45 min.
By bus. The cheapest option, with fares starting from around €5, at the cost of a longer journey than the train.

Our own journey, in reverse
True story, July 2026: we covered this distance the other way round, from Wrocław to Kraków, on the final leg of our road trip. Before that, we'd reached Wrocław from northern Poland (the Łeba/Ustka area) in 4 to 5 hours on the road, without any trouble, on stretches allowing up to 140 km/h in places.
What we took away from it: a car remains a comfortable option if you already have a hire car for your road trip, but if Kraków and Wrocław are your only two stops, the train is probably the simplest and fastest choice.
